This is a review on the newly released movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two. This is the second movie of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the last movie in the Harry Potter franchise.
Sarah and I took the day off work to go see the last Harry Potter movie yesterday. This was fantastic as I’d be looking forward to the movie for a while now. This was the best part of the Harry Potter story in the novels, and the latter Harry Potter films were fantastic. The first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows also gave plenty of time for part two to finish the franchise of well. Oh, and it did!
I was surprised to see that not much time was used for Ron, Harry and Hermione breaking in to gringotts bank. The scenes, with the dragon, were good but didn’t blow me away like it should of. Ironically enough it didn’t particularly matter for me, just giving more time for the battle of Hogwarts.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
The Battle of Hogwarts is epic. The vast majority of the film was dedicated to this it, keeping religiously close to the story from the novel – big plus for me! My favourite part was Professor McGonagall getting the stone soldiers to protect Hogwarts. You can see a quick clip of this in the trailer below. There are also some fantastic computer graphics with spells protecting Hogwarts, and some amusing bits with Neville and the snatchers.
The film follows Harry, Ron, and Hermione closely throughout the film. While this is a slight shame for the battle at Hogwarts, it does give a nice snapshot of the different scenes as the main character’s delve through them.
The film does finish off with the “19 years later” chapter too. While watching, I thought this was really important as it would of been a bit of a premature ending otherwise. They also use the same actors to play the older looking characters which worked better than I thought it would.
Overall, the film was fantastic. It follows the storyline well, emphasizing the best parts of, and wraps things up well at the end. I did cringe a bit when the audience broke out in applause at the end – but hey, you can’t have everything! If you haven’t seen the movie yet, why not check out the trailer here:
